Asian airlines report Lunar New Year windfall

Airlines in Asia report regional international flight bookings have jumped - as have fares - ahead of the Lunar New Year break.
Korean Air says its load factors will be up to at least 97 per cent on flights to Europe, while tickets to Australia, Guam, and New Zealand already were 87 per cent booked with those to China, Japan, and Southeast Asia at 70 per cent.
 
Asiana Airlines claimed it was seeing Southeast Asia demand was at 85.4 per cent, with 84.6 per cent to Japan and 83.3 per cent to Europe. Flights to Bangkok, Okinawa, Rome and San Francisco were almost sold out.
 
Budget carriers also have reported strong demand for the period - and ticket prices have risen accordingly.
