Airtime has a phoney sound

Allegedly serious reports out of South Africa claim a new South African carrier named Airtime Airlines and based in Durban will charge in mobile phone airtime minutes instead of hard currency. Flights between cities will be charged as airtime minutes.

It has been suggested ownership may be shared between local firm Blackbird Aerospace Corporation and a local mobile phone operator.


The carrier will operate flights under AirQuarius Aviation’s South African flying licence. -Jack Handley
