Preliminary figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) show international departures from Australia increased by 9.8 per cent in December compared to November, with nearly 50,000 outbound trips made.

The figure included 12,100 Australian citizens setting off.

 

Meanwhile, international arrivals to Australia also increased in December, with an estimated 35,100 arrivals, 17,800 of them Australian citizens.
