The USA's Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says it caught about 10 firearms per million passengers passing through airport security in 2020, despite the sharp drop in air travel and the Covid-19 pandemic resulting in 500 million fewer checkpoint screenings.
TSA agents found 3,257 firearms in passengers' carry-on bags at security checkpoints, TSA said, about 83 per cent of them loaded.
In 2019, agents found 4,432 firearms at security, the highest in the TSA's 19-year history.
