Japanese nationals and foreign residents entering and re-entering the nation will be affected by a new rule banning all new visa applications (except for business travellers who already have landing permission in place).

Foreign nationals may lose residency status if they do not comply with the quarantine measures.

 

The ban also applies to those traveling for business purposes under reciprocal agreements and programs for athletes preparing for the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
