Marriott International president and ceo Arne Sorenson has died after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was 62. 

During his time as ceo, Sorenson oversaw the US$13 billion acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts and took the company to new levels of environmental sustainability.

 

"Arne was an exceptional executive and an exceptional human being," said Marriott executive chairman and chairman of the board JW Marriott Jr.
