ACCC blocks Air Canada plan

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has blocked the proposed Air Canada-Air New Zealand co-operation agreement on the Sydney-Vancouver route saying it feared such a deal would reduce competition between Air New Zealand's indirect flights between Australia and Canada and Air Canada's daily services between Sydney and Vancouver.

European Union regulators have stepped up the pressure on the proposed Lufthansa bid for Brussels Airlines, saying they are concerned the tie-up might create a monopoly on routes from Brussels including Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich in Germany.
