Southwest flight 'came close to ocean plunge'

As the travel/aviation industry hears of more turbulence events, a Southwest Airlines passenger flight came within 400 feet of hitting the ocean off the coast of Hawaii.

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 fell at more than 4000 feet per minute, according to media.

No one was injured and the plane returned to its departure airport in Honolulu.

According to Southwest’s own review, the incident occurred following an aborted landing attempt due to inclement weather.

In May, a passenger died and more than 70 others including eight Australians were injured after a Singapore Airlines flight hit severe turbulence, throwing passengers and crew around the cabin and forcing the plane to land in Bangkok.
