Three of Europe’s largest budget airlines, EasyJet, Ryanair and Wizz Air, have reported nearly GBP8 billion in the past year from ancillary charges, up from GBP5.3 billion collected in 2018-2019. The additional fees are worth more than GBP20 million per day and come from 'paid-for' services such as checked baggage and priority boarding.

The one-hour flight between Kuala Lumpur International in Malaysia and Singapore’s Changi Airport is the busiest international route of 2023, according to travel data provider OAG, which said the route had 4.9 million scheduled seats this year, a 50 per cent increase from 2022.
Seven of the top 10 busiest international routes and nine of the top 10 busiest domestic routes were in the Asia-Pacific region.
