Boeing to cut 4,500 jobs

USA-based plane maker Boeing says it plans to cut more than 4,500 jobs by the middle of the year to reduce costs.

The bulk will be in its commercial aircraft division. About 1,600 positions will go through voluntary redundancies, while the rest will take place through attrition.

The cuts account for almost three per cent of Boeing's workforce, which totalled 161,000 at the end of last year.
