KL St Regis raises the MICE bar

The St Regis Kuala Lumpur’s opening in May 2016 is expected to transform the Malaysian capital’s MICE scene with the property’s game-changing event space, which features Asia’s first 270-degree LED digital canvas around its Grand Ballroom.

The 208-key hotel is the first St Regis in Kuala Lumpur and boasts the largest guest rooms in the city plus 10,000m2 of function space spread over four floors and 16 meeting rooms.

The largest is the 1,300m2 Grand Ballroom with the digital canvas made up of 47 LED screens that surround its circumference.

General manager, Anne Scott said: "The designers have taken great pains to think about how The St Regis Kuala Lumpur can offer its guests an unparalleled experience and thus the idea of the LED digital canvas was inspired. I believe we are the first hotel in the region with the ability to give event participants the sense of being totally immersed in the presentation because it is being projected all around them not only through the LED screens but also through the supporting state of the art light and sound system that can be programmed to change with the mood and tone of the video or images."

To access the cinematic quality effect, guests can expect to pay MYR 250,000 per use for the LED digital canvas. In addition, the Grand Ballroom has direct access to a private lift large enough for a car to be transported into the room.

Scott said: "This makes the venue ideal for car model launches or any large scale product launches. Imagine how impressive it would be for the actual car to be displayed in the middle of the room while a video of it driving round the room is played on the LED screens."

Another feature is The Salon, which is specially designed for weddings and VIP events. The room has a lounge and dressing room for the bride or personalities to change or refresh and offers a live video feed from the Grand Ballroom so they stay well connected to the main event.
The junior ballroom, The Astor Room, is accessible through a separate entrance for private drop-offs and has its own dedicated pre-event space for cocktails or breakouts. In terms of outdoor function space, the hotel has a dual level rooftop bar and lounge called Crystal, which has an LED media wall that runs alongside the pool, and can also be used for events.

Scott said: "The challenge of most event organisers is that they constantly have to outdo themselves in order to impress their clients and that means always having to come up with something new. We believe The St Regis Kuala Lumpur’s versatile event spaces, state-of-the-art technology and equipment, which is supported by cherished traditions such as the legendary Butler service of St Regis, allows them to be very creative and provide innovative event packages for their customers and colleagues. St Regis is known to bring refined elegance to the best destinations around the world and we are confident that the St Regis Kuala Lumpur is a compelling reason for meeting planners to bring their business to Kuala Lumpur."

The St Regis Kuala Lumpur's target markets include Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia and China and also some business from Europe and Australia.
