USA tightens visa-waiver rules

New rules applying to the United States visa-waiver program include a new requirement that all visitors on the program carry machine-readable e-passports.

Also, all travellers will be checked against the Interpol Lost and Stolen Passport database and there will be more federal marshals deployed on flights from visa-waiver nations.

The new rules affect 38 nations including Australia and are designed to protect the USA against terrorism.
