CanJet downed

Canada's CanJet Airlines has ceased flight operations, but will continue to manage its fleet of four B737s until they can be dry leased to other airlines.

“We’re going to take a step back and see if we can come up with a business plan that we’re comfortable with,” airline president Stephen Rowe said.

Some 47 pilots have been laid off by the charter airline, as have 38 seasonal and nine permanent flight attendants. Union CUPE National said its flight

attendant members were taken completely off guard by the announcement.

“It’s a sad day for the company, we’ve been operating aircraft for 20 years," Rowe said.
