More Brits headed for Australia

Aided by a weaker dollar, Australia looks set to be the most popular long-haul destination for British holidaymakers this northern winter.

One provider says it already has recorded a 102 per cent increase in the purchase of Australian dollars by consumers in the UK.

British sterling (GBP) has been at around 2.1 to the AUD since July, peaking at a rate of 2.223 on 24 August compared to 1.8 on 24 August 2014.

That is the highest level since March 2009.
