North Tasmania on BET winning streak

Business Events Tasmania (BET) has reported a surge of interest in Launceston and the north of Tasmania, with 23 per cent morebid conversions this financial year.

The increased business has been attributed to having Misty Sanderson a dedicated business development staffer based in Launceston.

BET’s director of sales Claire Harrington said: “It’s really great to see PCOs are considering Launceston and the surrounding areas and we’re getting good feedback that they like what they see.

"Everything they need is easily accessible and the region wholeheartedly supports hosting business events, to the point where venues, service providers, producers and even the city’s mayor are happy to work co-operatively to put together delegate experiences a bit different to the norm.”

Launceston has won some impressive events including the Bioenergy Conference (Nov 2015, 300 delegates ), Australian Society for Infectious Diseases Annual Scientific Meeting (Mar 2016, 350 delegates and Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology National Conference (May 2016, 200 delegates) and is looking to build on these.
