TPG close to SriLankan decision

Sri Lanka's SriLankan Airlines has reported an operating loss of LKR14.1 billion for 2016 compared to a loss of LKR4.9 billion in 2015.
Losses were mainly attributed to higher costs related to aircraft maintenance and leases.

Potential investor US-based global investment body Texas Pacific Group (TPG) is reported to be carrying out due diligence on the carrier.

The country's prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said the airline had liabilities running over US$3 billion and the government would have to absorb the debt to make the airline presentable to a future strategic partner.
