Only four airports still covered by US PEDs rule - UK ban remains

Only four airports remain under a ban for carry-on laptops on US-bound direct flights, namely Saudi Arabia's two main international airports in Riyadh and Jeddah, Egypt's Cairo International and Morocco's Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport.
Six others across the Middle East have been removed from the ban, originally put in place on March 21, after they improved their security procedures.

The ban requires travellers to pack all personal electronic devices (PEDs) larger than cellphones in luggage stored in the aircraft's baggage compartment and was introduced after intelligence officials learned of efforts by the Islamic State group to place bombs in consumer electronics.

Separately, the UK government banned PEDs on inbound flights from six Middle East and North African countries, namely Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Turkey. The UK ban remains in place.
