In recent years, flight delays have become the norm across UK airports, with almost one in two passengers finding disruptions to their travel plans. 


Analysis by MoneyTransfers.com  reveals the best and worst airlines and airports for delays based on the latest 2023 flight delay data across the UK.

The study shows Gatwick, Bournemouth and Bristol airports feature in the most and longest delays of all UK airports.

The top five airports revealed to have the most delays:

     • Gatwick - 74.1 per cent of flights delayed.
     • Bournemouth - 73.6 per cent of flights delayed.
     • Newcastle - 73.6 per cent of flights delayed. 
     • Bristol - 72.5 per cent of flights delayed. 
     • Stansted 70.2 per cent of flights delayed. 

The top 5 airports revealed to have longest delays:

     • Isle of Man - average delay of 33.22 minutes.
     • Gatwick - average delay of 27.71 minutes.
     • Bournemouth - average delay of 25.43 minutes.
     • Luton - average delay of 25.03 minutes.
     • Bristol - average delay of 22.37 minutes.
 
Taking first spot for the least and shortest delays, as well as the most early arrivals, is Belfast City (George Best). Following, both Exeter and Teesside International airports also made the top five ranking for the least and shortest delays and the most early arrivals.

     • Belfast City (George Best) - 46.3 per cent of flights delayed.
     • Exeter - 53.6 per cent of flights delayed.
     • Southampton - 54 per cent of flights delayed.
     • Teesside International airport - 56 per cent of flights delayed.
     • Isle of Man - 56.1per cent of flights delayed.
