KM Malta Airlines to replace Air Malta

Malta’s authorities have announced a new national airline for the Maltese Islands to be wholly owned by the government.


KM Malta Airlines will replace Air Malta and commence operations on 31 March 2024, subject to obtaining all necessary authorisations from the Maltese Civil Aviation Directorate, and will start with a five-year business plan.

Air Malta will honour all tickets on flights up to 30 March 2024. Flights with travel dates 31 March 2024 and beyond will be operated by the new airline.

The new airline will operate eight Airbus 320neos in a two-class configuration with a mixed owned and leased ownership structure for both airframes and spare engines.
