Eurocontrol releases new aviation stats

March 11-17 saw an improvement in Europe airline arrival punctuality to 81.7 per cent, despite traffic increasing to 25,272 flights per day, according to the latest report from Eurocontrol Aviation Intelligence. 


The jet fuel price  was slightly down, ticket prices slightly up, and the EU27 showing weak but positive GDP growth. 

Airline operating profits in 2023 were, overall, significantly better than in 2022 but SAS was still in the red. Meanwhile, Airbus continued to out-perform Boeing, particularly on single-aisle jet deliveries.

Other key data include:
• The Network recorded 25,272 average daily flights (+6 per cent vs 2023). The average number of flights was one per cent higher than in the previous week.
• On average, the top 10 carriers increased their capacities by two per cent compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, at country level, the top 10 states saw their flights increasing by one per cent.
