Asia-Pacific countries "should follow Singapore's SAF lead" - ACI

Director general of Airports Council International (ACI) for Asia Pacific and Middle East Stefano Baronci says other countries in the region need to follow Singapore's lead and commit to using more sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

"It's important that other countries follow the level of commitment demonstrated by Singapore and agreed internationally by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) community," he said.

In February, Singapore told all airlines flying from the country to use at least one per cent of SAF by 2026.

Baronci says the low figure is because there isn't enough SAF in the market and it's expensive.

But it's important that other countries follow Singapore's example.
