Key US aviation players call for China capacity pause

US aviation majors and unions want the Biden administration to 'pause' current approvals for additional flights to and from China, saying Beijing’s “harmful anti-competitive policies” affect the approximately 315,000 workers employed by US passenger airlines that serve China.

Industry lobby group Airlines for America (A4A) — whose members include American Airlines, Delta and United — and unions representing aviation workers including the Air Line Pilots Association, made the request in a letter.

In February, the US said Chinese carriers would be able to make 50 weekly round trips to and from the United States, up from 35.
That directive took effect this month.
