BA reports 22.4 per cent April passenger drop

UK carrier British Airways has reported a 22.4 per cent decline in April passenger traffic from the same month last year, mainly as a result of the impact of the Eyjafjallajoekull volcano.

Monthly capacity declined 20.9 per cent and passenger load factor declined 1.5 percentage points compared to 2009.

Traffic was down 22.4 per cent to 7.263 billion revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) including a 19.8 per cent decrease in premium traffic and a 22.9 per cent in non-premium traffic.
