Ash disruption continues

The UK and Ireland have been warned to expect air services disruption throughout the summer, and that volcanic ash may return within days because of wind direction changes.

The warning came just hours after all UK and Irish airspace re-opened following two days of disruption centred on Scotland, Ireland and the North of England. The Icelandic volcano causing the problem then increased the
amount of ash it spewed out.

The warning is bad news for global companies involved in both the airfreight and passenger businesses serving the UK and parts of Europe, bringing a higher risk of long-term disruption to global schedules.
