Italy fines Ryanair EUR3 million

Italy has fined Irish low-cost airline Ryanair EUR3 million for failing to help passengers inconvenienced after cancelling flights because of the Icelandic volcano ash problem.

Italy's civil aviation authority claimed there were 178 cases of passengers not receiving mandatory assistance, such as food.

A spokeswoman for Ryanair said the allegation was "complete rubbish".
