Congrex – now there’s an app for that

Congrex has introduced an iPhone App for the upcoming European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) annual conference in London.

The association of clinicians, researchers and allied health professionals will be the first Congrex clients to experience the service. The EAACI 2010 App is available from Apple’s App store and was specially created for the Congress, which is being held in London 05-09 June.

"The App will act as a networking and navigating tool, helping the 8,000 delegates make the most of the event, but will also provide EAACI with insightful data to help shape future Congresses," said Dr Layth Bunni, chief executive of Congrex.

"Once downloaded, participants can navigate their way through the Congress using an interactive map, view event details and times, receive reminders of key events, and interact with speakers by sending instant messages - the application funct

Participants can also create their own digital profiles on the App, promoting themselves to other delegates and vendors. Other useful benefits include hotel and travel information – offering participants a seamless Congress experience. Plus, with statistical usage data, and user generated content, EAACI can see exactly what’s popular at the Congress and what’s not.

EAACI president Prof. Jan Lötvall said: ” Using mobile IT-technology for providing programs and access to resources is not only easier for the participants, but also good for the planet, as less paper is used, printed and distributed.”

*It isn’t known how many Congrex delegates use iPhones and therefore the number able to take advantage of the new app.
