From February 3, 2024, Malaysia's AirAsia X is to replace its Sydney-Auckland, New Zealand service with a resumed run from Kuala Lumpur to Australia's Gold Coast and then to Auckland three times weekly.

The airline earlier admitted to the competition regulator the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) that it cancelled 10,000 flights just three days before its chairman, Richard Goyder, allowed former chief executive Alan Joyce to sell shares worth A$17 million.

The Dubai-based Emirates Group has confirmed its best-ever six-month financial result, with a 2023-24 half-year net profit of AED10.1 billion (US$2.7 billion), surpassing its record half-year profit of AED4.2 billion (US$1.2 billion) last year by 138 per cent.
Northern summer’s end sees traffic fall
