Ocean Infinity pushes MH370 search restart

US marine robotics company Ocean Infinity (OI) says it has tabled a new proposal to the Malaysian government aimed at finding Malaysia Airlines flight 370 (MH370), which vanished in 2014 - and according to one unconfirmed media report, the new search could start before Xmas this year.

As it has before, OI says the operation would be on a 'no find - no fee' basis.

“We wait for the required paperwork to be sorted out and a new contract inked," OI says. It said in March it was in a position to reopen a probe after previously scouring the southern Indian Ocean in 2018.

The Malaysia Airlines flight disappeared more than 10 years ago on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, China.

The search company’s ceo Oliver Plunkett said: “Finding MH370 and bringing some resolution for all connected with the loss of the aircraft has been "a constant in our minds."

Plunkett said his team has been analysing data in a bid to narrow the search area.

He added: “We’ve been working with experts in the hopes of narrowing the search area down to one in which success becomes potentially achievable. We hope to get back to the search soon.”
