Etihad boosts freighter fleet

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has inked a multi-year Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) agreement with Atlas Air Worldwide for a B747-8F.

It is the second deal by the pair, the first being for a B747-400F in May 2012.

The new plane will be the largest in the carrier's current eight-plane freighter fleet and will have a payload capacity of 138 tonnes and a range of more than 8,000 kilometres.

From June the airline also will have three Boeing B777Fs, one Boeing 747-400ERF, one Boeing 747-400F and three Airbus A330-200Fs.
