US navy tightens travel budget

The US navy is using travel software to cut its global logistics and transportation budget and hopes it can save US$20 million a year by doing so.

The Office of Naval Research said that the Transportation Exploitation Tool (TET) consolidates travel schedules and capacity reports to give logistics planners a choice of booking ships, planes, trucks, trains or other means of travel along with information about costs, estimated time of arrival and recommendations for the most efficient route.
