The leading USA trade association for US airlines - the Air Transport Association of America - has changed its name to Airlines for America, using the shortened version A4A and adopting the tagline "We Connect the World".

US firm AMR (parent of American Airlines) soon will tell its 130,000 employees whether the decision to enter Chapter 11 bankruptcy means it will unload its pension funds; the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp (PBGC) says AMR's four plans are US$10 billion underfunded, even though the four plans have US$8.3 billion in assets.
