Unite set to widen BA dispute

Unite, the union representing UK carrier British Airways' cabin crew, says it could widen the ongoing dispute with the carrier and involve all 30,000 of its members including those representing ground staff, including check-in workers and baggage handlers.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has issued a draft determination proposing to deny authorisation for an alliance between Virgin Blue and Air New Zealand on their flights between Australia and New Zealand. Under the alliance, the airlines would take a co-ordinated approach to a range of issues including pricing, revenue management, schedules, capacity and routes flown.

Fraport AG's Frankfurt Airport (FRA) home base in Germany says airfreight in August continued to show stable double-figure growth with 185,372 metric tons handled - equal to an 18.4 per cent year-on-year increase. FRA said it was its busiest-ever August for freight handling.
