Third Australian freighter for Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific will add a third B747-400 freighter service on its Australia route effective 27 September. The airline will operate a B747-400F Sundays on a Sydney-Melbourne rotation. On Mondays the carrier will operate a B747-400 freighter to Sydney and one to Melbourne. Mike Courtney, cargo manager Australia for Cathay Pacific, said the additional freighter was required to meet strengthening seasonal demand.

Germany’s Frankfurt airport, Europe's third-busiest, reported a drop in freight and passenger traffic August as the slowing economy bit and strikes hit Lufthansa, its biggest customer. Air freight volumes fell 5.2 per cent to 164,791 metric tons and the number of travellers dropped 3.9 per cent from a year earlier to 4.92 million.

July cargo drops for Europe’s airlines

July cargo traffic for European airlines has fallen for the first time in a year and a half, sliding 1.2 per cent on a downturn in transatlantic trade. The decline included a 4.7 per cent fall in North Atlantic air trade, according to the Association of European Airlines.

Delta chooses CargoBooker
