Singapore Airlines Group has reported operating profit for the year of S$2,125 million, a year-on-year improvement of S$810 million (+61.6 per cent). Passenger (+$617 million) and freight (+$164 million) operations led the way, although all five main operating companies in the Group posted better results:- Singapore Airlines $ 1,644 million (+60.1 per cent); SIA Cargo $132 million (Loss of $32 million previously);SATS $174 million (+13.8 per cent); SIA Engineering $103 million (+0.9 per cent) and regional airline SilkAir $40 million (+100.0 per cent).

Aloha Airlines has been given court approval to sell its cargo division to Seattle-based Saltchuk Resources. The cargo sale marks a new beginning for Saltchuk subsidiary Aeko Kula (the new name for Aloha), which will be responsible for 85 per cent of the state's air cargo shipments. The deal saved about 350 jobs.
