Air cargo volumes 'stuttering on'

General air cargo market volumes fell eight per cent year-over-year in May, compared to April, as the aviation industry’s stuttering recovery was hit again by macroeconomic events that show no sign of abating, according to industry analysts Clive Data Services, part of Xeneta.

IAG Cargo is restarting its cargo-only services between London Heathrow and Hong Kong and also restarted its cargo-only London Heathrow-Bangkok service 24 May. Daily flights from London Heathrow to Hong Kong restart on 01 June.

Since the start of the pandemic the business has completed over 250 cargo-only flights between London-Heathrow and Hong Kong, with the early flights - in April 2020 - mainly carrying PPE such as hand sanitiser, gloves and masks.
