Lufthansa inks e-freight agreement

Germany's Lufthansa Cargo has signed an e-AWB agreement with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), meaning its forwarders only need to sign one agreement to gain acceptance from multiple carriers for their e-AWB. All signatory airlines are then automatically included in the accord.

The B787 is back in the air, but now as well as facing calls for compensation for the planes' three-month-plus grounding due to battery issues and for late delivery,  India's Air India has decided to ask for higher compensation from Boeing because - it says - the B787 is not as fuel efficient as the plane maker claims.

Singapore carries more passengers

Singapore Airlines recorded 0.8 per cent year-on-year growth in April 2013 in system-wide passenger carriage (measured in revenue passenger kilometres), while capacity (measured in available seat kilometres) grew by 3.2 per cent. As a result, passenger load factor (PLF) fell 1.9 percentage points to 77.8 per cent. The number of passengers carried increased by 1.1 per cent year-on-year to 1.5 million.
