Qantas opts for group boarding

Following trials at major airports, Australia's Qantas is to introduce 'group boarding', which splits passengers into six groups based on what class they're in, their frequent flyer status and seat location.

Qantas said the change will speed boarding overall and contribute towards flights departing on time.

The system is in place in Brisbane now, with Perth live on June 10, Melbourne from June 17 and Sydney from June 25.

Qantas Domestic ceo Markus Svensson said it was the carrier's most comprehensive change to the boarding process for over a decade.
