Star rolls out mobile platform

Star Alliance has developed a common mobile IT platform that enables member carriers to provide mobile services to customers.

The mobile portal provides information and services for customers on the move, including flight schedules, real time flight departures and arrivals, lounge information, a currency converter plus weather and destinations information.


More interactive services, such as Frequent Flyer program status, notification in case of irregularities, online check-in with seat maps for seat selection and mobile boarding passes with 2D bar codes will be made available soon.


African Airways and TAP Air Portugal are the first member carriers to launch mobile portals under the initiative. Each airline designs its portal to its own specification, using common technological standards provided by the alliance.
