Virgin Australia sets post-Covid performance record

Virgin Australia has set a post-Covid record for its own on-time performance among major Australian airlines for April and has launched a Discover Gold Status Match offer, hoping to attract rivals' frequent flyers.

The Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE)  says the carrier achieved an on-time departure rate of 82.6 per cent and completed 98.3 per cent of flights with a cancellation figure of 1.72 per cent of scheduled sectors.

It was the carrier's best performance in two years.

The Velocity initiative will allow up to 3,000 frequent flyers with Gold, Platinum, or higher status in competing loyalty programs to switch to Velocity Discover Gold for three months.
