Southwest hikes priority fees

The US's Southwest Airlines offers Upgraded Boarding and EarlyBird Check-In for passengers, but its most recent price hikes reportedly have upset some customers.


Passengers are assigned boarding groups and check-in positions based on when they check-in for their flight and they board the plane based on those groups.

Earlybird passengers may still end up with a less-than-desirable seat unless they opt for Upgraded Boarding instead.

Earlybird check-in now costs from US$15 to US$99 one-way per traveller, up from US$25 maximum.

Upgraded Boarding also has increased in price, up from US$80 maximum to 'from US$30 to US$149 per segment per traveller'.
