Hopes fade for Bonza rescue

After more than a month of possible 'white knight' rescue scenarios, staff at Australian startup carrier Bonza have been told they face an unfortunate end game after hopes of finding a buyer for the embattled airline faded.

Bonza administrator Hall Chadwick told creditors on Thursday June 6 that a sale now is 'unlikely'.

The budget airline entered voluntary administration on April 30, less than 18 months after launching its first passenger flights. Since then, more than 300 workers have been stood down.

The budget airline owes more than A$100 million (A$5 million of it to 323 staff).

Also, Bonza customers have been told they won’t receive ticket refunds 'any time soon'.
