Boeing close to Spirit buyback?

Reuters reports plane maker Boeing is 'close to achieving a deal' to buy back Spirit Aerosystems' plants that provide fuselage and other structural components for Airbus A350 and A220 aircraft as well as most of the Boeing 737.

Boeing also could acquire 'aerostructures' work for other defence suppliers including a Sikorsky helicopter (part of Lockheed Martin) and sections of Northrop Grumman's B-21 stealth bomber.

Boeing is said to consider the reacquisition of Spirit, which was spun off in 2005, as a key to improving its operational quality.
