Qatar tops Skytrax rankings

Doha-based Qatar Airways has taken top spot at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, taking the title from last year’s winner Singapore Airlines.


Australian airline Rex climbed six spots to 50th position, the only Australian carrier to improve its ranking.

Fiji Airways won the Australia/Pacific Best Airline award and came 14th overall. It also won the region's best economy class, best airline staff, best cabin crew and best on-board catering.
 
Australia's Qantas won five awards open to Australia/Pacific-based airlines including best catering, best business class and best premium economy.
 
Qatar Airways’ global win was its eighth and it also won best business class, best business class lounge and best airline in the Middle East.
 
Singapore Airlines was ranked second overall, followed by Dubai's Emirates, Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific.
