Jetstar swoops on Bonza route

Qantas Group budget carrier Jetstar says it will operate a new domestic service from the Sunshine Coast to Cairns 'up to' four times per week using an A320-200 from December 3.

The route is one of 10 from the Sunshine Coast that was operated by failed startup Bonza, which went into voluntary administration in April.

Administrator Hall Chadwick has told Bonza's creditors the airline owed A$133 million when it went under and said part of the problem was “insufficient” and “sporadic” funding from Bonza's US parent company 777 Partners.
