AirAsia tries again in Vietnam

Malaysian carrier AirAsia again is in talks to set up a branch airline in Vietnam, adding to its carriers in Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Cambodia.

AirAsia ceo Bo Lingam said many airlines "were struggling to roll out enough flights" in the Asian country.

The Vietnam aviation market is controlled by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and private airline Vietjet Air. Vietnam Airlines also holds nearly 99 per cent of Pacific Airlines, the first low-cost airline in Vietnam.

AirAsia has tried before to establish a toehold there, but without success.
