Cathay adds codeshare deal with Mexicana

Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific Airways and its oneworld partner Mexicana Airlines have signed a code-share agreement to provide passengers with better connections and greater convenience when travelling between Hong Kong and two major cities in Mexico, Mexico City and Guadalajara.

The new agreement comes into effect on 14 June 2010 and bookings for travel can be made immediately for travel from that date.

Under the code share, Mexicana’s flights from Mexico City and Guadalajara to Cathay Pacific’s North American gateways in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Vancouver will carry the “CX” code, while Cathay Pacific’s daily services from Hong Kong to the same gateways will carry Mexicana’s “MX” code.

In May, Cathay Pacific announced a code-share with another oneworld partner, LAN, connecting its passengers to Santiago, the capital city of Chile. With the new arrangement with Mexicana, Cathay will offer code-share services with a total of seven of the oneworld alliance’s 11 full members.
