Virgin Blue adds accommodation

The Virgin Blue Group of Airlines has cut over to the Navitaire New Skies reservations system.

Keith Neate, Virgin Blue chief financial officer said: “This is a A$10 million investment not just in technology but in our customers. It ensures our guests enjoy a simple, faster and more-efficient booking process and allows us to recognise them as individuals at the same time.

“Our guests want to be recognised with their personal preferences when travelling, such as seat allocation and Velocity membership level. Over the coming months these developments will be added, along with the facility to book accommodation,” he said.

Other features include:
· A quick comparison of fares up to 15 days around the day of travel; the option to book ancillary services, such as car hire and hotels, seamlessly;
· booking summaries allowing the customer to keep track of costs; easy retrieval of booking details; and
· Velocity members can add their membership details to new or existing bookings.
Neate said that further enhancements were planned to the reservation system that is used by more than 25 airlines around the world.
