Singapore Expo at forefront of MICE revival

Reports say Singapore Expo, located close to Changi Airport, will host a tenth of all business-related events in the city state in the next two years.

"The big conventions and exhibitions sector is starting to bounce back," said Singapore Expo deputy general manager Chandran Nair.
Singapore already hosts about 6,000 business events annually, claimed to be about 25 per cent of Asia's total.

Total visitor arrivals including tourists and business travellers slipped 4.3 per cent to 9.7 million in 2009, but the Singapore Tourist Board (STB) tips arrivals for 2010 could hit 12.5 million.

The five-year target is 17 million arrivals.
