Flight information software company ITA Software is to be acquired by Google for around US$700 million in cash.

ITA's customisable flight data organisation tool is used by both airlines and online travel agencies.

The deal will allow Google to create flight search tools that will enable users to find better flight information more easily on the Internet.

Google says it will honour all existing ITA-customer agreements and looks forward to adding new partners.
