Rex brings down Melbourne-Perth average fares

The Australian Airports Association says the introductory A$99 sale fare offered by Rex on its new Melbourne-Perth route is the lowest price available since 2010 and Rex’s standard A$269 one-way fare represents the cheapest seats since 2015.


Qantas, Virgin Australian and Jetstar’s cheapest rolling average of fares has been around $550, but with Rex fares in the mix, that drops to A$340.

The Melbourne-Perth route is number 10 on the list of global routes that produce most revenue for airlines - more than US$640 million in the first half of 2023.

In all, five discounted Rex Melbourne-Perth services and three discounted Adelaide-Perth services will occur weekly from June 28th, 2024 to August 31st, 2024, the former using Rex’s Boeing 737s and the latter its Embraer E190s.
